Description

A trial-trenched evaluation, comprising three trenches (50m in total length x 1.80m wide) was undertaken by John Newman in July 2020 in advance of the erection of three new dwellings. The trench depth was c.300mm with the local glaciofluvial deposit being stiff pale brown clay with flints, below topsoil and subsoil. No archaeological features were defined and the only (stray) finds were from the upcast spoil, comprising occasional small pottery sherds and small brick and tile fragments of later post medieval date.<1>
