Description

Archaeological monitoring and recording of groundworks for a new rear extension was carried out in October 2019. A total of 23m of foundation trenching was excavated, 500mm wide x 1200mm deep, revealing 200mm-300mm of topsoil above 600mm of mid brown sandy subsoil which in turn lay over 300mm of clean pale-mid brown sandy subsoil. No features were revealed in the trenches and the only finds exposed were small fragments of Post medieval brick and tile in the topsoil and upper subsoil deposits (not retained).<1>
