Description
The evaluation revealed part of the Colchester to Gosbecks Roman road including the metalled road surface F2, at least one (possibly two) roadside ditches and perhaps part of the walkway alongside the Roman street. Significant archaeological horizons were encountered c.0.53m below current ground level in the test pit and at c.0.90-1.00m in the trial trench.<1>
