Description
Archaeological monitoring and recording was undertaken by Colchester Archaeological Trust in August 2019 during groundworks for a new extension (foundation trenching, measuring c.9.25m long x 0.4m wide x 1m deep). The foundation trenching was excavated through a layer of turf and concrete (L1, c 0.09-0.14m thick), topsoil (L2, c.0.38-0.45m thick) and subsoil (L3, c.0.23-0.26m thick) onto natural (L4, medium orange sand) encountered at a depth of c.0.77-0.79m below current ground level. Modern services were encountered but no archaeological features or finds were defined.<1>
