Description

An archaeological evaluation, comprising a single trial-trench 7m long x 1.8m wide, was undertaken by Colchester Archaeological Trust in February 2019 at Kingsdown, Green Lane, Aldham, prior to the conversion of the existing garage and construction of a new cart lodge. The trench encounter a modern accumulation layer (L1, c.0.15-0.16m thick) and topsoil/subsoil (L2, c.0.34-0.39m thick) above natural (L3) at a depth of 0.5-0.55m below current ground level). No archaeological remains were encountered.<1>
