An archaeological evaluation, comprising a single trial trench 30m long x 1.8m wide, was carried out by Sufflk Archaeology within the grounds of the Unity Primary Academy, Hickory Avenue, Colchester, in advance of the development of a new classroom block. The trench revealed a natural subsoil consisting of silty sand at a depth of c.0.8m. No features or deposits of archaeological interest were identified and no artefacts recovered.<1>
