Description
An archaeological evaluation, comprising three trial-trenches each 30m long x 1.8m wide, was undertaken by Colchester Archaeological Trust in October 2018 and January 2019 at the former Orchard off the Chase, Irvine Road, Colchester, in advance of a planning application for the construction of a new residential development. Natural sands and gravels were encountered at a depth of 0.53-0.69m below current ground level. No archaeological remains were encountered.<1>
