Description
Archaeological monitoring and recording was undertaken by Colchester Archaeological Trust in August 2018 during the groundworks for a new extension (c.25m of foundation trenching, 0.5m wide and 1.4-2.1m in depth). The excavations occurred through topsoil (L1, medium yellow/brown sandy-loam with frequent pottery and tile piece inclusions). There were no archaeological features. However, 35 sherds of Roman pottery and four large fragments of brick and tile were recovered.<1>
