Description
Archaeological monitoring and recording was undertaken in July 2018 during the groundworks for a new side extension, comprising c.19m of foundation trenching, 0.5m wide x 1m deep. Three layers were recorded. Modern topsoil (L1, c.0.30m thick)
sealed a layer of subsoil (L2, c.0.45m) above natural (L3), encountered at a depth of c.0.70m below current ground level. The only cut feature defined was a modern foundation or service haunching (F1)in the northernmost NW-SE branch of the foundation trench. No other features or finds were defined.<1>
