Archaeological monitoring and recording was undertaken by Colchester Archaeological Trust in October 2018 and March 2019 during the groundworks for a new extension (8.6m of foundation trenching, 0.4m wide x 0.9m deep) and associated soakaway (1.25 x 1.25m in area x 1.25m deep). Groundworks revealed three layers. A build-up layer (L1, c.0.22-0.43m thick) sealed subsoil (L2, c.0.26-0.42m thick), beneath which lay natural (L3, orange/brown sand), encountered at a depth of 0.56-0.84m below current ground level. No archaeological features or finds were revealed.<1>
