Description

A trial trench, 10m x 1.8m in size, was excavated parallel to (and outside of) the boundary of the garden at Lamb Farm, Stockhouse Road, following the construction of a new dwelling, i.e. as a remedial evaluation (CBC planning application 152695). A single ditch (004), c.2.2m wide x c.0.36m deep and apparently aligned NE to SW, was defined containing four sherds (16g) of late medieval pottery. The upper layer (005) contained occasional roof tile fragments of late Medieval to Post Medieval period and two sherds of sandy orange ware (joining sherds with a thin greenish glaze) dating to the late 14th to mid 16th century. The middle fill (006) contained two sherds of sandy orange ware dating to the 13th to 16th century.<1>
