Description

A single trial trench, 8m long x 1.8m wide, was excavated by John Newman in September 2017 in advance of the construction of a new garage (CBC planning application 171064). The evaluation did not reveal any archaeological features (natural was revealed below 300mm of topsoil and 200mm of subsoil) and the only stray finds in the upcast spoil were occasional small pottery sherds (blue and white Willow ware type pottery of late 19th century or earlier 20th century date) and brick fragments of later Post medieval date.<1>
