Description
Archaeological monitoring and recording was carried out during the groundworks for a new rear extension in September 2017 (CBC planning application 171882). Approximately 19.33m of foundation trenches were dug under archaeological supervision to the rear of the house. The trenches measured 0.45m wide x 1.1m deep. Modern topsoil (L1, c.0.25-0.3m thick) sealed a layer of subsoil (L2, c.0.4m thick). Natural sands and gravels (L3) were encountered at a depth of c.0.65-0.7m below current ground level. No archaeological features or were identified.<1>
