Archaeological monitoring and recording was undertaken in August 2018 during the groundworks for a new extension. The foundation trench measured c.13m long x 0.5m wide, and was excavated to a depth of 2m through three layers. Modern topsoil (L1, c.0.35m thick) sealed subsoil (L2, c.0.5m thick), which in turn sealed natural (L3, encountered at c.0.85m below current ground level). Modern services associated with the property were observed in the west of the foundation trenching and a modern sewer ran through the central part of the foundation.
