An undated note in the Museum SMR files records 'I have recently been told of an item found by the then occupant of 42 Stockwell Street, Colchester, found some 15 years ago, when she was cultivating the garden. After seeing a recent Television Programme on various recent discoveries (among which were a number of Torques) she is now convinced that this is what in fact she found. At the time she attached little importance to the find and disposed of it in her dustbin, the contents of which eventually found their way to the Stanway Tip. ' <1>
