Description

A single trial trench, 20m long x 1.8m wide and aligned N to S, was excavated by Colchester Archaeological Trust in July 2017 in advance of the erection of a new cattery (CBC application 170921 for erection of new cattery). Three layers were recorded. Modern topsoil (L1, c.0.05m thick) sealed accumulated subsoil (L2, c.0.23m thick). This layer sealed a layer of naturally deposited loam (L3). No archaeological remains were defined.<1>
