Description
Archaeological monitoring and recording was carried out at the Mercury Theatre, Balkerne Gate, Colchester, during the excavation of two boreholes as part of preliminary work for the Mercury Rising project. Roman layers were encountered at 1.4-2.8m below current ground level in borehole 1 and 1.2-3m bcgl in borehole 2.<1>
