Description

A geophysical survey was carried out by Stratascan on land (36.5ha. of agricultural land divided across five fields) at Highfields Farm, Kelveden, in order to inform a planning application for a solar farm.<1> Linear features associated with former field boundaries, some of which are evident on the 1875 Ordnance Survey mapping of the site. A series of anomalies in the southeast of the site appeared to correlate with the location of a post-medieval gravel quarry and field system. However, there were also other linear features on a different alignment, and not on early maps. Amorphous magnetic variation is of natural origin, asscociated with the geologiy or pedology of the region.
