Description

Trial-trenched evaluation was undertaken in advance of the construction of a new Multi Use Games Area (MUGA)(CBC planning application 160833). Six trial trenches were excavated, each 15 long x 1.2m wide. All of the trenches were excavated through modern topsoil (L1, c.110-160mm thick) and a medium yellow/mottled grey/brown sandy silt subsoil (L2, c.160-220mm thick) onto natural orange/grey sand (L3). No significant archaeological features or horizons were identified in any of the trenches.<1>
