Archaeology South-East, commissioned by CgMs, undertook Levels 2 and 3 historic building recording of Severalls Hospital before and during redevelopment in 2016-17 (CBC planning application 160611). The site contains over 100 buildings, comprising those original to the early 20th century asylum, buildings added in the 1920s and 30s, and some later hospital buildings, structures and additions. Key buildings were recorded at Historic England Level 3, while the remaining structures on the site were recorded at Level 2.<1>
