Description

A detailed (Historic England Level 3 analytical) survey of the 33m-long section of upstanding Town Wall (both inner and outer faces), which now forms the southern boundary of the eastern half of the (now dis-used) Bus Depot, Queen Street, Colchester, was carried out by Colchester Archaeological Trust in 2016, to inform development in close proximity of the wall. The exposed section of wall was shown to be post-medieval in date, but it is possible (as seen elsewhere on the wall) that the original core survives behind and below the exposed face.<1>
