Description
Structural survey of building behind (and parallel to) 68 High Street (67A?), of timbers exposed during renovations.<1>
The substantial size of the timbers, the probable crown post roof and the diamond mullion all suggest that the building was built in either the 15th or 16th century. The function of the building is unknown but the outside staircase hints that it may have been some form of public building such as a guildhall.
