Archaeological monitoring and recording was carried out by John Newman at 37 Victoria Road, Colchester (CBC application 160772 relating to the erection of a single storey rear extension following demolition of existing single storey flat roof extension, conservatory and outhouse, and erection of timber front porch). No archaeological finds or features were defined. The deposit profile comprised 200mm of former extension base over 300mm of mid brown sandy subsoil while in the former garden area there was 400mm of topsoil above the 300mm of subsoil with the local glaciofluvial deposit being orange sand with flints.<1>
