Archaeological monitoring and recording was carried out by John Newman at 41 Victoria Road, Colchester (CBC application 152331 relating to the erection of side and rear extensions). No archaeological finds or features were defined. Close to the house, the deposit profile comprised 200mm of former extension base over 500mm to 600mm of mid brown sandy subsoil while in the former garden area there was 400mm of topsoil above the 300mm of subsoil with the local glaciofluvial deposit being orange sand with flints.<1>
