Description
Stratascan gradiometer survey for Archaeology South-East of a 2.3ha. site (playing fields) within the grounds of Philip Morant School, to the west of the school buildings, in advance of a planning application for a new building.<1> This followed a desk-based assessment by Archaeology South-East.<2>
The survey did not identify any anomalies of archaeological origin. A single former field boundary was detected. A band of ‘quiet’ data runs to the north of the field boundary, along the potential route of Heath Farm Dyke. The majority of the anomalies were modern in origin, relating to scattered magnetic debris, ferrous objects, and magnetic disturbance from nearby buildings.
