Description
Several fragments of red tessellated pavement were found when cutting the foundations of the nurses quarters at the Essex County Hospital. Some which lay in the line of the walls were removed and others were covered by the buildings. No exact positions are recorded.<1><2><3> The same building work in 1931 appears to have revealed blocks of urn burials.<3><4> Grave Group 558 was uncovered on the site of the boiler room of the Nurses Quarters.<5>
