Description
Archaeological monitoring and recording was carried out during the groundworks for a small, rear extension (CBC planning application 160032). Two lengths of foundation trench were dug by a mechanical excavator under archaeological supervision, totalling 6.5m in length x 0.5m wide x 1m deep. Natural sands and gravels (L3) were encountered at a depth of c.600mm below current ground level. The area inside the foundation trench was reduced by 150mm through modern topsoil. No archaeological remains were identified.<1>
