Description
A fluxgate gradiometer survey of Plots 7 & 8 (c.6.1 ha of arable and grassland) of the Northern Gateway was undertaken by Stratascan (for ASE Archaeology) in February 2016.<1>
The detection of former field boundaries and modern ploughing in the southern area suggest that the area has a recent agricultural past. The northern area was covered by strong magnetic debris consistent with made ground which may be related to the construction of the adjacent Weston Homes Community Stadium. The remaining anomalies were natural or modern in origin, relating to land drains, ferrous objects, and fencing.
