Description
Two test pits were excavated to assess the grassed area outside the Balkerne Gate, prior to the installation of new spot lights.<1>
The evaluation was carried out to identify if significant archaeological horizons had survived at a maximum depth of 300mm below modern ground level. No archaeological features, layers or finds were identified at this depth and only modern layers were encountered.
