Description

A magnetometer survey was carried out by Stratascan on land (38ha) at Langenhoe Hall, Hall Road, Langenhoe, in advance of a planning application (CBC application 132330) for the development of the site for a new solar farm (Push Energy 2013).<1> A small number of archaeological features were identified, including former field boundaries and a possible cut feature. Other features identified were likely modern or natural in including a former pond, magnetic disturbance from field boundaries and fences, services, a modern field boundary, areas of agricultural burning and scattered magnetic debris and spikes. Large areas of amorphous magnetic variation were also visible within the survey area, and these are likely the result of intertidal drift geology.
