Description

A fieldwalking evaluation was conducted by Colchester Archaeological Trust in 2005 over an 5.26ha. area of land (two fields) at Tile House Farm, Great Horkesley. <1> The fieldwalking recovered very low weights of archaeological material - 8 pieces of burnt flint, 2 worked flints, 1 sherd of Roman pottery, 12 pieces of Roman brick/tile, 2 sherds of medieval pottery, 40 sherds of post-medieval pottery and 11 pieces of post-medieval tile. The report suggests these finds are the result of manure scatter.
