Description

A single trial trench (15m long x 1.5m wide) was excavated by Colchester Archaeological Trust in December 2015, in advance of the erection of a new village hall (following demolition of existing)(CBC planning application 150665). <1> The evaluation defined the brick footings of the former National School (built 1800s, demolished 1960s), below topsoil (150-200mm thick). There were no (other) finds, or features of archaeological significance.
