Description
A single trial trench (4.7m long x 1.5m wide) was excavated in the garden of 11 Oaks Drive, in advance of the construction of a new conservatory (6.5 x 5m in size) and following the demolition of the existing conservatory (CBC planning application F/COL/02/1244). The evaluation did not expose any archaeological features. There was evidence of a large-scale dumping of sand, which was possibly left over from the building of the house in the 1970s or was brought in deliberately to raise the level of the garden. <1>
