Description

Observations were made after a short trench had been dug for a new wall at the rear of 96 High Street. The work was necessitated by the building of a wall and the laying of a new surface water-pipe and sewer-pipe in order to separate the property and create a new access. No archaeological remains were observed during this work. The report suggested the trench (500mm deep) was not deep enough to reach archaeological levels. Two fragments of Roman tile or brick and one sherd of 17th century tin-glazed pottery were the only finds. <1>
