Description

A watching brief was carried out during the groundworks for the construction of a new pay kiosk at the entry to the existing Nunns Road (Williams & Griffin) car park, with other associated groundworks. Disarticulated human remains were discovered - two broken femurs, a number of tibia/fibula frags, a toe bone, a vertebra, and other fragments. The report suggests they were probably discovered and disturbed when the car park was built in the 1960s, and not reported. It is possible they were put back into a hole close to where they were found. The report suggests they are probably Roman in date because of the absence of a medieval church in this area. <1>
