An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the groundworks for a rear extension in February 2000. The extension was built on a shallow reinforced concrete raft with ground beams up to 50cm deep. Most of the observed service trenches were of similar depth, except at the entrance, where deeper trenches were found to cut through ground previously disturbed by earlier services. The watching brief was negative, other than a capped brick-lined well and a post-17th century pit at the rear of the property. <1>
