Description
A watching brief was undertaken by Colchester Archaeological Trust in 1999 during the installation of a new drain connection from the north side of the St Mary’s Church to an existing sewer in Church Street, Colchester. The work exposed part of a brick and mortared rubble foundation below the north wall of St Mary’s Church. The foundation appeared to date to the 18th century rebuilding of the church.<1>
This work followed a desk-based assessment in February 1999. <2>
