Description

A trial-trenched archaeological evaluation was undertaken by Archaeology SE in April 2014, on an area 2.73 ha. in size in advance of the submission of a planning application (to Essex CC) for a new primary school. Twenty-two trenches were excavated in total across the 2.73 hectare development area, of which fifteen trenches contained no archaeological remains. The remainder contained only features, of post-medieval and modern date.<1> The trial trenching followed a desk-based assessment prepared by ECC Place Services.<2>
