Description

Archaeology South-East excavated a single trial trench at Littlegarth School, Horkesley Park, in advance of the proposed construction of a new classroom block. At the time of the evaluation, the site comprised an area of grass verge next to a car-park and to the rear of the main school building. Only post-medieval and modern features were recorded although one feature was undated. The features are likely to relate to the clearance of medieval woodland and the subsequent use of the site as a farm. <1> It seems likely that the site had been also truncated/slightly terraced at some point, as the field to the south is at a higher level than the current site.
