Description
Ninety-four gravestones of various sorts were recorded in a survey of one section of the graveyard of St Mary the Virgin church at Dedham in 2007. Twenty-six of the
gravestones had become overgrown with turf and were located by probing and then uncovered by hand. The gravestones within the survey area had been erected at
dates ranging between 1883 and 1984, although almost all the burial plots had been laid out in a systematic way, row by row, between 1883 and 1908. Part of the area was also the subject of geophysical survey. <1>
