Description

In the 1996 magnetometer survey, results showed a suggestion that there might be a feature at the Temple centre. This survey therefore repeated the survey of the two 20m squares which cover the feature, at the normal density of readings of 0.5mx1.0m, but with the instrument on the 0.1 nT range. (The two squares that were surveyed relate to peg 13 of the site grid.) The anomaly which was present in these two squares was quite faint, and it wasn’t possible to obtain a satisfactory print from the data because the print was too dark, although the feature is visible on the computer screen. In conclusion, the magnetometer seems to be working at the same sensitivity as before. There are two rectangular features at the centre of the Temple, and one has a magnetic response in the south-east corner. The large magnetic response previously reported is still present, on the northern edge of square one. <1><2>
