Description

Wire's diary records a floor of Roman tiles at the back of the Cross Keys Inn, 18" long 23" wide, 2" thick, laid upon a bed of concrete of pounded brick. Opposite St Nicholas' Church, rather more to the east was a wall foundation 'of the usual adhesive character' <1><2><3><4>
