Description

In May 2003, a watching brief took place on eight small test-pits (c.3 x 0.9m in size), dug by soil engineers as part of a series of ground-investigation works in advance of redevelopment at Colchester Garrison. Two pits of indeterminate but possibly early date were noted in test-pits on farmland to the north of Earlswood Way. Both features lie within an area known to contain a late Iron Age / Roman field system and trackways. <1>
