Description

A pavement of red and buff tesserae was found by P.G. Laver in Culver Street opposite Wolton and Attwood's approximately central to the north face of the building, 3ft 6" from the surface and 24ft east-west. Four days later there is another entry in Laver's diary with a sketch showing part of Ager's house (next on the west of above, now demolished). Under the east part is shown a Roman wall running N-S the top 3ft from the surface, the width not given. Under the west part, 3ft 6" from the surface, is a pavement of mixed red and buff tesserae, of considerable lateral extent. <1><2>
