An archaeological evaluation at Gosbecks Farm sampled 2.5% of the development area for new housing, with 600m of trenches. Excavated features included Neolithic grooved ware pottery, a prehistoric ditch, a large Romano-British field ditch and a series of post-medieval field ditches. The evaluation demonstrated sporadic prehistoric activity on site and a greater level of activity in the late Iron Age and early Roman period, including possible metalworking. Field walking, metal detecting and geophysical surveys were undertaken as part of the evaluation.
