Description

In c.1908 a large amount of burnt earth and brick rubble was found in the NW part of Mr R.W. Wallace's garden. The deposit was 50 yards long by 20ft wide and 3ft thick. The depth from the surface was 2ft. 'It was composed mostly of burnt clay, rather like insufficiently burnt ballast, intermixed with pieces of thin bricks, flue tiles and Roman roof tiles.<1><2><3>
