Description

A group of three jars and at least three other white pots found in the early 1970's by a builder who sold them to Mr Jeffries (Field Farm, Layer de la Haye). The group of three probably funerary vessels consists of jars including one 'honeypot' and one with an unusually long neck. Probably found nearby were a small unguent flask and two belgic tye bowls one of which is now in Canada.<1> Photos held in Essex County Council SMR.<1> A collection of four complete Roman vessels and an almost complete Camf218 bowl said to have been found in Hospital Lane, Colchester, a location which lies within the west cemetery of Roman Colchester and the pots were almost certainly taken from graves during modern building works. The group comprises a bowl, 'honeypot', storage jar, large flask, unguent flask and tall necked flask. <1>
