Description

In 1938-9 the excavation for the Public Library exposed 23ft of the south boundary of this insula just east of the SW corner. The wall was faced with small blocks of septaria: 24ft north of the street, under the north wall of the Library, near the NW corner, lay a patch of red tessellated pavement 13ft long by 3ft wide, continuing southwards. Eighty feet east of the NW corner, lay another small patch of red pavement, measuring 5ft by 3ft 6".<1>
