Description

Two walls of brick and septaria found under the modern High Street south of the former tram-lines, January 1920, marked onto 1876 I:500 OS map in the Museum (not found). One extends to 17ft 6" north of the building line, the other to 6ft. They were 354ft from the SW angle of High Street, lying apparently in an east-west direction, and were 2ft 6" thick and 3ft high; from surface to base was 7ft. Observed by P.G.Laver <1>
