Description

Hoard of Silver Pennies of Henry I - III from Colchester hoard from the site of London & County Bank (No 25 High Street) in July 1902. The coins were buried in a leaden vessel and range in time from Henry I to Henry III, including some contemporary Scotch and German sovereigns.<1> The find spot is given by the Essex County Standard (12 July) as 'about 5 feet 6" from the surface under the garden at the back of what was formerly the dining room of the bank residence' <2>
